My firstborn child, afterwords of 'El crítico'.

Hello! First of all, I want to thank you all. I'm very happy to finish my first videogame. My name is Emir, and I'm from Argentina. As you can see, english isn't my mother language but I manage to fairly use it. I learned english precisely thanks to videogames, and I couldn't be more grateful for that. So... speaking about 'El critico', I had fun while making it and it's the first project that I have finalized. I'm the type that tends to procrastinate a whole lot, so I focused to end this project.
My intentions with the game was to make a short story that reflects each player individually through interpretation. Let me explain myself; even though the game is linear narrative-wise, I make it in a way that the game show and don't explain. I make it in a way that could have many secrets and symbolism, making use of the unreliable narrator and surrealism but always in a humble way, working from the simple without underestimating the player or overestimating the work. I wanted to make a personal experience, I wanted to make it small and simple. Exactly the opposite of what is usually done. And I wanted that all the players could do interpretation work. And here is when the individuality and personal experience comes to play. Each game will be interpreted in a different way by different player; so in that regard, two playthrough will be the same in regard of the videogame per se, but outside the game will be different for each. And not only for each player, it will be different to the same player depending how they're positioned in life, that is to say, you could interpret the game very different through the passage of time. I wanted to do something similar to Yume niki , and tell the story of the protagonist in a tacit way.
Speaking about the developing of the game, it was hard for me. Since I'm no artist, or could do pixel art very well. In fact, making those horrible charas for the protagonist and antagonist take me several months to learn. But I manage it... kinda. And I had some problems, starting by deleting by accident a 40% percent of the game. But that's in the past, all is good now. Also, I get the help of my best friend with the music to make the main theme (although I used royalty free music for the rest) and a really talented artist to make the cover. I thank then deeply.

I hope that if you play my game you gain something valuable. And if you read this just out of curiosity: Hey! I hope you're happy. You can overcome anything, keep going. Thank you all.
